Goal-fest on the cards as old foes Cobh and Longford meet again at St.Colman’s

COBH RAMBERS V LONGFORD TOWN – SSE AIRTRCITY LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION

Despite the long journey ahead and memories of a humiliating 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Saturday’s opposition still fresh in Longford minds, ”De Town” head south looking to extend their current unbeaten run to five games in all competitions. There have been some unforgettable meetings at St.Colman’s Park between Cobh Ramblers and Longford Town in recent years and with both sides in an immediate hurry to make up lost ground on current leaders Waterford FC, this could turn out to be yet another goal-fest by the sea.

Despite a tightening of the purse-strings, not that they were ever too lose to begin with, at St.Colman’s Park this off-season, Stephen Henderson’s Cobh Ramblers will arrive at the City Calling Stadium on Saturday night fully confident that they can pull of an early upset in this seasons promotion race (kick-off 7-45PM). Outspoken boss Henderson has slated the FAI’s decision to only allow one promotion place in the First Division this season and to his credit he has publicly admitted a successful season for the “Rams” in 2017 would be to simply ensure the club is still around to challenge again in 2018.
